Alba man dies in motorcycle crash
An Alba man died in a motorcycle crash in Van Zandt County the night of Tuesday, Feb. 21.
According to the Dept. of Public Safety preliminary report, Erick W. Baker, 37, was traveling west on FM 17 on a 2013 Yamaha approaching a curve 2.5 miles south of Grand Saline at 10:30 p.m.
The motorcycle was traveling at a speed unsafe to safely negotiate the curve and struck a mailbox on the north side of the road, according to the report.
Baker was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at a Canton hospital.
