The American Legion has supported the community for many years. Fundraising through various activities supports East Texas groups that serve the citizens. The principal  fund raising activity is through two guns shows each year, in the spring and fall.

Members who are veterans continue to support their country and community through this type of effort.

Post Commander John Whitsell has stated: “This is our largest contribution to the community yet and was only made possible through the hours of volunteer efforts of our members. We do this kind of activity because we are able to. Many of our comrades gave all and so we do this to honor them.”
