Back-to-school event returns

  For the past two years because of COVID-19, the Mineola Kiwanis Club has donated gift cards to grade school teachers of Alba-Golden and Mineola to buy supplies for their students.

This school year, the club will reinstate the Back to School Event for students who are pre-K  through fifth grades from both school districts to get their school supplies.

On Saturday, July 23, the Mineola Kiwanis will host the event at the Jack and Peggy Jones Pavilion at the Mineola Civic Center. The event is being held earlier this year to allow students to get ready for school.

Pickup is from 9 a.m.-noon. Basic health checks will be available for dental, eye and head. Haircut coupons will be presented and hot dogs served.

After picking up their supplies and taking care of various health exams, the Civic Center Splash Park will be available for the students to use.
