Beginner sewing class offered

A free Beginner Sewing Class for Adults will be held on Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m. at the Wood County Extension Office, 618 S. Main St., Quitman. Participants will learn sewing basics and make a pillowcase.

Participants may bring their own sewing machine (to help learn the features/functions of the sewing machine) or use a provided machine at the class. Participants will need to bring the following fabric for the pillowcase:

3/4 yard of fabric for body of pillowcase and 1/4 yard of fabric for cuff of pillowcase

Or participants can purchase a kit with fabric provided for $5 each.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
