Broadstreet Bank breaks ground on new location

Broadstreet Bank, founded and headquartered in Mineola, broke ground for its newest location in Terrell Friday, May 15.

The new facility is being designed and built by Phase One Builders, and will be located at 769 American Way in Terrell in Kaufman County.

Jennifer George, director of marketing for Broadstreet Bank, said the expansion is part of the bank's long-term growth strategy.

“[Terrell is] one of the fastest-growing regions in the state,” George said. “Kaufman County has experienced population growth exceeding 30 percent over the past decade, with significant residential development underway in Terrell and surrounding areas.”

The new branch positions the bank to enter a market with more than $1 billion in deposits, George said.

Golden shovels in hand, the Broadstreet Bank board of directors and senior leadership celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony along with Terrell City Manager Mark Mills, the Chamber of Commerce, the Terrell Economic Development Council, architect Sean Neal, designer and builder Lee South of Phase One Builders, and other guests.

South, partner at Phase One, thanked Broadstreet Bank for partnering with Phase One on the project, and said he looks forward to building many more.

“I'm very excited to see the best-looking building in town,” Neal, architect for the facility, said.

Jeff Baska, senior project manager with Phase One, said the builders have made good progress.

“We're building as fast as we can, and trying to stay ahead of the rain,” Baska said. “The City of Terrell has been good to work with.”

Mills, city manager for Terrell, welcomed the bank to the community, and said he appreciates the shared values of the city and Broadstreet: relationships, opportunities, and strengthening communities.

“We're grateful for like-minded individuals who are community-driven,” Bitner Hayes, of the Chamber of Commerce, said. “They will represent Terrell well.”

Jason Sobel, chief executive officer of the bank, said good banking is about trust and relationships.

“Local bankers understand the unique needs of their communities,” Sobel said. “This project creates jobs, supports local contractors and suppliers, and continues the economic development of the community... We're turning dirt and blueprints into a welcoming branch that will serve generations to come, building a strong future together.”

Jason McCrary, chief financial officer for Broadstreet Bank, said he is excited for the bank's expansion into Terrell.

“At our core Broadstreet is a community-focused bank,” McCrary said. “This bank was built one relationship at a time, and we believe the future is bright in Terrell with the anticipated growth here. We're excited to be here and be a part of it.”

The Broadstreet Bank location in Terrell is projected to open by December of this year.
Texas Community Bancshares, Inc., the holding company for Broadstreet Bank, recently reported increased first-quarter earnings compared to the same period last year.

“I am pleased to report continued momentum across our key financial measures,” Sobel said. “Since going public in 2021, when full-year net income was $518,000, we have already generated more than 150 percent of that amount in the first quarter of 2026, and I am excited to see more growth in Terrell.”
