The Quitman Bulldogs put it all together in a 12-2 road win at Mt. Vernon last Thursday.

Bulldog hurlers Landon Richey and Tommy Drinkwine combined to hold the usually potent Mt. Vernon squad to just four hits while striking out 14 Tiger batters. Richey tossed the first four innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out eight. Drinkwine came on to toss the final three innings, giving up no runs, no hits and no bases on balls while striking out six Tigers.

Mt. Vernon took the lead in the first inning with one run. A big Bulldog sixth inning proved to be the difference. Richey walked to start the inning followed by singles from Kameron Crockett and Justin Matthews. Quitman scored on an error on a ball put in play by Davis Watson.

Bulldogs Payton Sapp, Richey, Justin Matthews and Carson Dickens had hits in the game. Cannin Peppers led the Bulldogs with a pair of hits going 2-3. Matthews had four RBI, Richey added three RBI and Watson had a pair.

The Bulldogs face off against Chapel Hill Tuesday and travel to Winona Friday. Their playoff path will be determined the final week when they play Harmony at home April 18 and on the road at Winnsboro April 21 and at Mineola April 25.
