Business takes up the call to help make masks

Posted

Stitchin’ Heaven in Quitman is seeking assistance from their community of quilters and sewers.

They have received many requests from local hospitals and medical facilities requesting masks.

They have made a tutorial with their method on making the mask.

There are many methods, and Stitchin’ Heaven urges others to research and do the method with which they feel most comfortable.

They are asking for masks to be created and shipped to them at Stitchin’ Heaven.

Stitchin’ Heaven is seeking around 10,000 masks to be delivered to nearby medical facilities within Quitman and the surrounding areas. They have also received requests for 23,000 to 50,000 masks from their contacts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

They are asking their quilters to take pictures of their masks and the quantity they made, then post them to Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #shmm.

Masks may be sent to Stitchin’ Heaven, 321 Richards St., Quitman, TX 75783.

“We feel like we are in a unique position to be able to help a lot of people and want to do our part. Our health care workers are on the front lines and we are sending them into battle without the proper tools,” Stitchin’ Heaven co-owner Clay Luttrell said. “We want to bring awareness to the mask shortage because we need everyone’s help and participation to overcome it and flatten the curve of this virus. If you’re able, we encourage everyone to act together as a community to help slow the spread so that hospitals can keep up and we don’t lose more lives.”

If you are a medical team in need of these masks please reach out to Anita by email – anita@stitchinheaven.com or by phone – 903-760-7397 ext 111.
