Chili Time! Mineola Kiwanis hold Chili Cook-Off
The 17th annual Mineola Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off lunch will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Mineola Civic Center. Doors will be open from 11 to 1. Cost for the lunch, which includes all-you-can-eat chili, a drink, and dessert, is $10. Children younger than 12 are $5.
A live dessert auction will be held during the event, and will feature mouthwatering goodies from local businesses and gourmet bakers around the area. Instead of a silent auction, the Kiwanis Club will feature “K Bucket” items, which are valued at $50 or more. Participants drop one or more tickets into the “K Bucket” of their choice. Tickets for those items may be purchased for $5 for one ticket or $20 for 5 tickets.
If you are interested in hosting a chili booth, contact Misty Hooks at 903-312-8243. Booths may set up at 9 a.m. Awards will be given for Best Chili, Best Decorated Booth, and People’s Choice.
The First National Bank of East Texas is the major sponsor for this year’s Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off. Other sponsorships are available.
All proceeds go to the Mineola Kiwanis projects for children, such as the Terrific Kids projects for primary ages, K-Kids for intermediate ages, Key Club for high school, CKI for college, and Christmas gifts for students of the Wood County Special Education School SSA.
