City advises to follow rules for limbs

Posted

Severe storms in the area have resulted in numerous residents with large amounts of limbs needing disposal.

While the city of Mineola does pick up and shred or haul off limbs, there are rules in place concerning limb disposal.

The city has asked residents to review and follow these guidelines:

Do not place brush, limbs and leaves in the street. Instead, pile them separately behind the curb or on the edge of your yard.

Ensure your piles do not obstruct traffic or block the flow of water.

Do not place debris on utility meter boxes.

Failure to comply can result in flooding that damages homes and properties.

Citations and fines up to $2,000 can be issued for violations.

“Your cooperation is crucial in preventing further flooding and keeping our city safe.”

For more details, refer to the ordinance Sec. 34-21 Brush Limb and Leaf Collection. It can be found at Mineola.com.
