Commissioners adopt county speed limits

Wood County commissioners held a public hearing for adopting uniform speed limits for county roads at their Tuesday morning meeting.

The commissioners approved the order adopting uniform speed limits on county roads as 40  miles per hour except in residential areas where the speed limit is set at 30 MPH. Also approved was a speed limit of 15 MPH, unless otherwise posted, on a county road on or adjacent to a beach area at the county lakes.

Only one personnel matter was approved, the hiring full-time of Lauren Bates by the juvenile probation department as the community activities officer at $20 per hour.

Commissioners acknowledged a petition for the adoption of Private Roads 6461 and 6462 for county maintenance.

They approved an agreement with Kofile Technologies for the county clerk’s office. Their services include conservation treatments, rehousing, imaging and creation of microfilm.

Renewals for Xerox lease agreements with Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 and the Juvenile Probation Department were approved.

A public hearing was held and commissioners approved the revised amended Wood County Subdivision Regulations.

Also approved was six acres in The Hague Estates subdivision in Prec. 1 to be divided into two lots. 

Wood County health insurance premiums for 2023 were approved. After a public hearing, the revision of lots 228 and 229, section 6, Holly Ranch Subdivision was approved.

A public hearing for the revision of lots 459 and 460, section 4 in Holly Lake Ranch Subdivision was set for Dec. 13. Also a public hearing was set for the revision of lots 12 and 13 in the Key Addition Subdivision.

An order of assignment was approved for David Brabham, senior judge of the 188th District Court, to preside in Wood County court.

Claims approved were: payroll, $435,789; health and dental, $95,567; accounts payable, $366,428; direct claims, $98,409; and voided checks, $98,929.
