Commissioners hear recreation land proposal, transfer rabies authority
The Wood County Commissioners Court heard a presentation Monday morning from Erik Duerkop with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regarding a proposed land acquisition near Little Sandy Creek in the Hawkins area. According to Duerkop, the property would be used for public recreation purposes once acquired.
Commissioners also approved transferring the county’s local rabies control authority responsibilities to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. Additional details from both discussions will appear in next week’s edition of The Monitor.
