County chair speaking to Wood society
Wood County Genealogy Society will meet Monday, June 17 at 5 p.m. at the Quitman Public Library.
Speaker will be Ulna McWhorter, chair of the Wood County Historical Commission. Her topic will be “Historical Businesses Around the Square” with a “Touch of History of the Courthouses” that were rebuilt in Wood County.
Ulna comes from a long line of ancestors from Wood County. She studied at Texas A&M at Commerce and at the University of Texas at Tyler. She attended Quitman High School. She is a retired teacher and taught for many years at Quitman High School along with her late husband, Bill.
Everyone is welcome to the Wood County Genealogy Society meeting.
