County extension offices host pesticide conference

The Tri-County Pesticide Conference will be held Friday, Oct. 21 at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman.

Cost is $30. Preregister by Oct. 7 with the Rains or Wood County agrilife extension offices, 903-473-4580 or 903-763-2924, respectively.

Schedule as follows:

8:30 a.m. - Registration & check out vendors

9 a.m.- Maintaining Soil Health as a Weed Control and Mechanism During A Drought by Clint Perkins, Smith County ANR CEA

10 a.m. - Pesticide Efficiency During Drought by Vanessa Corriher-Olson, Extension Specialist-Forage

11 a.m. - Laws and Regulations Update by Dr. Mark Matocha, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist-Ag & Environmental Safety

Noon - Lunch, visit vendors

1 p.m. - Improving Pesticide Applications by Dr. Mark Matocha

2 p.m. - Corteva Herbicide Update by Colton Spencer, Corteva

3 p.m. - Wrap up & visit vendors

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
