County getting donated riot gear
heriff’s Dept. was approved to receive a donation from the Houston Police Dept. Tuesday for six pieces of riot/crowd control gear.
The gear is new and has never been worn.
As County Judge Kevin White said, “Hopefully it never has to be used in the jail.”
The rest of Tuesday’s biweekly commissioners meeting was routine and brief, with commissioners approving the monthly treasurer’s report showing the county has $40,697,848 cash on hand as of May 31.
Payment of bills included payroll of $488,922, health and dental claims of $96,527, and accounts payable and direct claims of $475,407.
A pair of pier permits at Lake Hawkins were approved along with an overload road permit for County Road 2675 for a Montare Resources drilling rig in Prec. 3.
White announced that there will be a budget workshop following the next commissioners meeting July 23.
