Although no Wood County elected officials have filed a salary grievance, County Judge Kevin White has scheduled a meeting of the salary grievance committee on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 1:30 p.m. in the county courtroom of the courthouse in Quitman.

White appointed the salary grievance committee which includes other elected officials and three citizens.

Last year, two justices of the peace petitioned to have their salaries raised to the same level as other elected officials and were denied on 7-1 and 5-3 votes.

They again requested that during budget talks this year, but those requestes were not included in the budget proposal.
