Dale Allen Cater, 1958-2023

Posted

It is with heavy hearts that the Cater family announces the passing of Dale Allen Cater, who passed away on Feb. 2, 2023 in Mineola. Dale was born on March 8, 1958 in Garland to Lee Allen Cater and Edith Cater.

Dale married Lisa (Oujezdsky) Cater on April 3, 1982. He loved her and his family immensely, taking care of her after an accident rendered her paralyzed.

He attended Texas State Technical College, where he learned to be a machinist. Dale was everything from a car salesman to a repossession agent, armed security guard, machinist, welder, but found his true calling as an auctioneer. He thoroughly enjoyed being an auctioneer and it showed; every auction was more a performance for him and enjoyed showing his sense of humor and professional knowledge.

Dale enjoyed classic cars and playing mandolin; he also enjoyed collecting and trading firearms. He was a passionate hunter in his youth and enjoyed being outdoors. Dale had a sense of humor that he wasn’t shy about; his thoughts about you were never a secret. He was never shy and never met a stranger; he could bring a room to laughter without trying.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Allen Cater, and his grandson, Hart Cater. He is survived by Lisa Cater, Edith Cater, Tyson Cater, Lauren Cater, Colin and Samantha Cater; his grandsons, Hayden, Hunter, Harrison, Hayes; Leesa and Steve Brueggeman and family; and Martha Burns.

The Cater family would like to offer special thanks to Caraday of Mineola for all their support during this difficult time.

Dale will be remembered as someone who could light up any room with laughter from his jokes and stories; he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him but the memories shared will live on in our hearts forevermore
