David Henry Nichols 1949-2024

David Henry Nichols passed away at his home in Mineola on June 25, 2024. He was born on Nov. 2, 1949 in Mineola to Dewey Henry Nichols and Ruth Alma (Neighbors) Nichols.

He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War era. He dedicated 25 years of his career working for Freightliner in the CAD department in Portland, Ore. After retiring in 1998, he returned to his hometown of Mineola.

David is survived by his wife, Sherry Nichols of Mineola; five children, Zachary Davin Nichols of Gladstone, Ore., Joshua David Nichols (Molly) of Palmer, Alaska, Brandon Carl McMahon (Jennifer) of Ovilla, Phillip Addison McMahon (Rachel) of Forney and Adam Blake McMahon (Brittany) of Mineola; one brother, Jackie Bob Nichols (Mary) of Mountain Home, Ark.; and 13 grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor David will be held at the Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Baptist Church on July 21, 2024 at 3 p.m.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
