With the Friday, Feb. 18 filing deadline approaching, no city council and school board elections are contested in Mineola, Quitman, Alba, Alba-Golden and Yantis.
The election is May 7.

Deadline approaching for city, school elections
With the Friday, Feb. 18 filing deadline approaching, no city council and school board elections are contested in Mineola, Quitman, Alba, Alba-Golden and Yantis.
The election is May 7.
For three city of Mineola positions, incumbents Eric Carrington in Ward Two and Cassandra Sampson in Ward Three have filed, and Bobby Ryan has filed for the Ward One council seat.
Three candidates have filed for three Mineola School Board seats, including incumbent Glen Dossett, Todd Morgan and Janice Etheridge.
Three Quitman City Council seats are up, and incumbents Jack Robinson and Steve Glenn have filed, along with Todd Wright.
The Quitman School Board has two seats ups for grabs, and Brooke Rogers is the lone candidate thus far.
The Alba-Golden School Board also has two openings, and candidates are incumbent Dwayne Thompson and C.H. Campbell.
Incumbents Tammy Kirkpatrick and Bob Kraemer have filed for three seats on the Alba City Council.
Incumbents Betty Jenkins and Gerald Schmidt have filed for three seats on the Yantis City Council.
For the Yantis School Board, incumbents April Johnson and Jeff Quinn have filed for three seats.
School board terms are for three years and council terms are two years.
