Flores earns silver medal in powerlifting
Carlos Flores of Quitman earned the second place medal in his weight class during Friday’s state powerlifting championships in Abilene.
Flores competed in the 114 class and had lifts totaling 1,075 pound, with 405 pounds on the squat, 265 pounds on bench press and a dead lift of 405 pounds.
Teammate Jayden Markham placed 9th in the class with a 900-pound total and individual lifts and 350, 185 and 365 pounds.
Johnata Jones placed 7th in the 242 class with a 1,600 total, and lifts of 640, 400 and 560 pounds.
Ryan Widemon in the 132 placed 10th with a 1,020 total, and lifts of 390, 240 and 390 pounds.
Their efforts also gave the Quitman team 13th place among the 46 teams represented in Division Three.
