Four Quitman Bulldogs announce plans to continue athletic careers in college

Posted

Four Quitman high school student-athletes signed letters of intent to further their education and continue their athletic careers at the college level in a ceremony in the QHS auditorium last Friday afternoon.

Athletic Director Shane Webber said, “These four are examples of setting your goals. You young people set your goals and never lose sight of them. It’s also just as important that Johntae (Jones) signed to be a Marine. Fight for everything you want and desire.

“I am proud of these four and you should be, too, because they want to go to the next level.”

All-District football player and Texas Football pre-season Defensive MVP Ethan Presley will continue his football career at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.

The Rhodes Lynx are an NCAA D-III program which went 5-5 last year in the Southern Athletic Association.

Presley excelled in football and is on the basketball team.

Basketball player and prolific scorer Levi Thompson will continue his education and athletic endeavors at Bible Baptist College in Springfield, Mo.

The Patriots are the two-time national champions in National Christian College Athletic Association Division I.

Thompson is Quitman’s leading scorer with a 17 point per game average.

Head cheerleader and award winner Kameron Farnham has accepted an offer to join the cheer team at UT-Tyler. Cheerleading is now a UIL sport and is considered an athletic program in the NCAA.

The cheer team at UT-Tyler has been invited to national competition in the past year.

Ace pitcher Landon Richey will join the UT-Tyler Patriots storied baseball program.

The Patriots are former national champions at the NCAA D-III level, but have moved up and participate in NCAA Division 2 athletics in the Lone Star Conference. Richey is a post on the Quitman basketball team. He has been a four-year varsity baseball player and is one of the top pitching prospects in East Texas.
