Services for George Hoyt Camp, 90, of Quitman, were Tuesday, April 23 at First Baptist Church, Quitman.

He died April 18, 2019, at Christus Mother Francis Hospital. Mr. Camp was born in Godley, Texas, and raised in Cartwright. He worked for Kraft foods for 19 years before moving to Quitman, where he was the owner of the Western Auto store for 25 years.

Hoyt was a member of the Rotary Club, the Bank Texas Holdings board, the Old Settlers’ Reunion board, and the advisory council for Southwestern Baptist Seminary. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Hoyt is survived by his wife of 71 years, Billie Marie Cater Camp; his son James Edwin Camp; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Lynn Harris; a brother, Sam Camp; a sister, Jo Beddoe; and a grandson, Jeffrey Harris.
