Gerald Puckett, Jr., 1942-2022

Gerald Puckett, Jr., who grew up in Mineola, passed away May 25, 2022 at Parkwood Nursing Center in Bedford. He was 80 and fondly remembered his eventful years in Mineola.

“Puckett,” as he liked to be addressed, was born in Mineola to Gerald Puckett Sr. and Doris Allen Puckett.  Both parents died in separate incidents when he was four. He was raised by his grandmother, Exa Puckett, deceased. He married Tish Teague, who died in 2016.  

Puckett was a graduate of Mineola High School, Kemper Military Academy and what is now Texas A&M Commerce with a degree in psychology. He was employed in the security field, as a counselor at the Federal Correctional Institution in Seagoville and as a chef instructor for Wyatt’s Cafeterias. For the last four years, he has resided in Parc Place Retirement Living in Bedford.

Puckett is survived by son, Clay Puckett of Hideaway Lake; cousins, Gail Bennett Hill of Grand Saline and Elaine Burges Gwaltney of Plano; and his loving and devoted caregivers, Lorna and Kendall Baker of Bedford.

Burial will be in a private service in Sand Springs Cemetery at a later date.
