A Gilmer woman was killed in a single-vehicle traffic crash early Sunday.
According to the Dept. of Public Safety report, Elke M. Wieland Sanchez, 47, was traveling eastbound on FM 2088 about 11 miles east of Quitman at 2:58 a.m. in a 2004 Chevrolet Impala when, for an unknown reason, she failed to drive in a single lane and took faulty evasive action, entered a side skid and struck a tree in the south ditch.
Trooper Tony Garcia investigated the crash.
Justice of the Peace Cynthia Weems made the death pronouncement at the scene.
