Gladewater rolls past Quitman boys
Quitman Bulldogs coudn’t overcome Gladewater’s steady scoring on Tuesday night, Dec. 2, falling 67-49.
Quitman got on the board early with a three from Jonathan Hayes, followed by buckets from Jacob Breding, but Gladewater quickly answered. A series of outside shots and transition baskets helped the Bears surge ahead, outscoring Quitman 19-12 in the opening quarter.
In the second frame, Quitman found some rhythm behind Logan Davis, who knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to narrow the gap. Breding added another two, and Lane Harkins chipped in a free throw, but Gladewater continued to control the pace. The Bears carried a 32–24 lead into halftime.
Gladewater stretched its advantage in the third quarter, capitalizing on several second-chance opportunities and perimeter makes. Davis buried another three and Matthew Moore added a bucket inside, while Breding contributed at the line. Still, the Bears extended the margin to 50-35 entering the final period.
Quitman continued to battle in the fourth with scoring from Breding, Moore, Corben Long and Lucas Sandifer, who knocked down three free throws, but Gladewater’s consistent offensive pressure proved too much to overcome. The Bears closed out the game with a balanced scoring run to seal a 67-49 win.
Breding led the scoring with 22 points and Davis added nine.
