By all accounts, the Golden Sweet Potato Festival Thursday through Saturday in Golden was a smashing success.

Festival President Grant Sadler reported a record number of entries in all the events.

Over 70 vendors were on site all day Saturday, the morning parade had over 100 participants, and the tractor pull had 24 entries with 60 plus hooks. 

The benefit auction raised over $27,000 for local scholarships and need-based community contributions.

The festival is held the fourth weekend in October every year, and next year will mark the 40th anniversary.
