Guilty plea yields 10-year prison term for DWI
A multiple driving while intoxicated offender is going to prison for 10 years.
Steven Dale Akin, 41, of Henderson received a 10-year term in state prison following a guilty plea Nov. 10 in 402nd District Court.
He was also assessed a $2,000 fine plus court costs.
Akin was arrested Dec. 25, 2021 near the Sabine River bridge on U.S. Hwy. 69 South by two Mineola police officers following a report from a citizen who observed a vehicle weaving.
Akin was indicted in February in Wood County on a DWI third or more offense.
In 2018 he was indicted in Henderson County on a DWI with two or more prior convictions.
