Guilty plea yields 40 years for drugs

George William Reschke was sentenced to 40 years in prison Monday after entering a guilty plea in 402nd District Court for manufacture or delivery of controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than 400 grams.

He was also assessed a $1,500 fine, along with court costs and reimbursement fees. Reschke was represented by attorney Sten Langsjoen.

Reschke was one of three defendants in a drug bust near Yantis in January 2023.

Wood County Sheriff’s Lt. Austin Milbourn conducted a traffic stop after witnessing a traffic violation committed by Reschke. Milbourn had also observed Reschke’s vehicle leaving a property that was well-known to law enforcement as a “drug house.”

During the traffic stop, Milbourn deployed his K-9 Jois, who positively alerted on the vehicle, indicating that a controlled substance was located inside.

During a search, Milbourn discovered numerous individual baggies containing methamphetamine along with almost $1,000 in cash.

Subsequent to Reschke’s arrest, law enforcement executed a search warrant on the property Reschke was seen leaving where a significant amount of additional methamphetamine was seized. The total seized from Reschke and the property was 2.2 pounds.

Co-defendant Paula Box was previously sentenced to 20 years in prison while Falon Honea is still awaiting trial, which has been set for February.

“The defendant is a long-time drug dealer who had every intention of distributing this dangerous substance with his co-defendant, Paula Box, into the Wood County community. Who knows the lasting effects and damage it could have had on Wood County had they been successful,” District Attorney Angela Albers said.
