Hogue seeks place on state board of education
Rachel Hogue, a certified principal and 14-year educator, has filed for the Texas State Board of Education District 9 seat, representing Wood County.
Hogue, a seventh-generation Texan raised in Grand Saline, lives in Mineola with her husband, Benjamin. She brings decades of classroom experience and a deep commitment to student success.
Her career spans kindergarten through fourth grade, special education resource roles for middle and high schools, instructional coaching in reading, language arts and social studies for sixth through eighth grades and work as an MTSS coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, with a focus on reading.
“I am not a politician; I am an educator,” Hogue said. “I’ve seen the realities of our schools firsthand, and I plan to be a voice for students, parents and teachers.”
Hogue’s campaign centers on blending traditional classroom values with modern teaching strategies and conservative values. She advocates for high academic standards, personalized learning, and robust support for educators, trade programs and JROTC support where possible.
“Texas education must be the gold standard,” Hogue said. “We can’t raise the bar until we’ve achieved mastery where we are now. Without meeting students where they are, gaps continue to grow. We must restore respect to the classroom, focus on student differentiation, and ensure every child has the tools to succeed.”
She aims to leverage her firsthand knowledge to help make Texas classrooms places where both respect and learning flourish.
