The Wood County Economic Development Commission has awarded $150,000 in grants to promote tourism in the county.

The money comes from hotel/motel taxes collected from lodging establishments throughout the county.

By law, the funds may be used only to support tourism.

Some 25 grants were awarded this year. Last year 35 grants were awarded, also for $150,000.

Autumn Trails Association, multiple events throughout October 2024, $5,000.

Bass Champs, Berkley - October 2024, Team Event - February 2025, Mega Bass - April 2025, $15,000.

Bass on the Fly, May 2-3, 2025 tournament, $1,500.

Flint & Steel Skatepark, promoting the new skatepark in Mineola, $10,000.

Hawkins Oil Festival, festival on Oct. 12, 2024, $500.

Hidden Pines Venue, multiple events throughout the year, $2,000.

Hometown Christmas (Quitman), Quitman Christmas event Dec. 7, 2024, $3,000.

Iron Horse Square project, railroad heritage events and promotion of town’s founding roots April-Sept; Oct. & Dec., $3,000.

Legends of Lake Fork, fishing tournament May 15-18, 2025, $7,500.

Magical Mineola Christmas, 3-day Christmas event Dec. 6-8, 2024, $6,000.

Mineola Chamber May Fiesta, May 2-3, 2025, $2,000.

Mineola Chamber Iron Horse Festival, Sept. 26-27, 2025, $2,000.

Mineola Chamber Visitor’s Center renovations, ongoing restoration work of historical building where the chamber is located, $3,000.

Mineola Disc Golf, annual disc golf tournament at Nature Preserve March or April 2025, $7,000.

Mineola Wisener Field schoolhouse restoration, restoring the old pre-WW2 era schoolhouse for use, $2,500.

Mineola Wisener Museum HVAC, adding HVAC to historical aviation museum, $5,000.

Mineola League of the Arts, events throughout the year, $1,000.

Wood County Old Settlers’ Reunion, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2025, $3,000.

Patriot Sporting Challenge, fishing, golf and table games to help raise money for veterans, $10,000.

Promise of Peace Gardens Okrapalooza, annual okra-based event to promote healthy eating and home grown foods in Wood County, $4,000.

Sealy Tournament, Big Bass Splash tournament Sept. 19-21, 2025, $10,000.

Winnsboro Center for the Arts Art & Wine Festival, Art and Wine Festival Nov. 1-2, 2024, $5,000.

Winnsboro Center for the Arts Cowboy Music & Poetry, Cowboy music and poetry event Sept. 27-28, $5,000.

Winnsboro Center for the Arts Book Signing, book signing event May 2-3, 2025, $2,000.

Wood County Walls, ongoing work to put up murals in each community and promote them, $35,000.
