Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon at the Quitman Public Library! We are thrilled to welcome “Texas treasure” and former Montessori teacher Joe McDermott for a special performance as part of our summer reading program. With 37 years of experience entertaining young audiences, Joe is a true master of his craft, having earned prestigious honors like the Parents’ Choice Award and winning the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Even Stan and Jan Berenstain recognized his talent, calling him an “absolute wizard” at communicating with children when he set eleven of their original Berenstain Bears storybooks to music.
This summer, Joe joins us to celebrate our “Unearth a Story” theme. His lively, interactive performance turns traditional storytelling into a shared musical adventure, giving kids a unique and joyful way to connect with the magic found inside books. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity, brought to you by the Texas Commission on the Arts Rural Tour.
