Wood County Judge Kevin White has been named a Fellow of the Texas Judicial Academy by the Texas Association of Counties. The honor recognizes county judges who exceed the state’s minimum continuing education requirements and demonstrate a commitment to judicial excellence.
White was among several county judges inducted as Fellows during the academy’s 2026 Spring Judicial Education Session, held March 25-27 in Lubbock. The designation recognizes judges dedicated to continued learning and professional development.
The Texas Judicial Academy is a partnership between the Texas Association of Counties and the Texas Tech University School of Law and is overseen by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Through the program, county judges receive instruction from appellate court judges, law professors, experts from the Texas College of Probate Judges and the National Judicial College, and other legal professionals. The initiative helps ensure county judges across Texas have access to high-quality training and educational resources.
The Texas Association of Counties supports and provides services to Texas counties, helping local governments deliver effective services to their communities.
Editor’s Note: Coverage of the June 2 Wood County Commissioners Court meeting, during which Jennifer Harrelson was named the county’s new IT director and commissioners considered other personnel matters, will appear in next week’s edition. The meeting also included a presentation regarding the possibility of the area joining the Northeast Texas Groundwater Conservation District.
