The Quitman Lady Bulldogs secured a playoff spot, winning at home 4-2 over Harmony last Tuesday. The victory over Harmony moves the Lady Bulldogs into bi-district action against Hooks. The Hooks playoff game will be played Saturday at the Winnsboro Softball Complex with a 10 a.m. first pitch.

Against Harmony, Lady Bulldog Kennedi Elmore held the Lady Eagles to two hits, with a seventh inning stand-up triple. Elmore struck out nine Harmony batters. She also provided an RBI in the first inning. After Ashley Davis blasted a triple into the gap in right-center, Elmore had a single to bring her in. The talented Quitman hurler also had a 4-4 day at the plate.

Quitman led 2-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning when Addie Marcee singled. Marcee scored on an error by the Harmony center fielder followed by an Elmore single putting the Lady ‘Dogs up 4-0.

Quitman’s Peyton Kruckner had a hit and a pair of outs to centerfield. Kruckner’s  second fly out to deep center brought in a run for the Lady Bulldogs.

Harmony came back to score a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning.

On Friday, the Lady Bulldogs fell to district champion Winnsboro in a close game 8-5. Elmore gave up six hits and struck out five Lady Raiders.

This week’s bi-district game against Hooks is the second year in a row Coach Allison Head’s team has made the playoffs.
