Led by senior Maddy Pence, the Quitman Lady Bulldogs used a 21-point final quarter to subdue New Diana in a 41-28 win last Tuesday.

A slow first half found Quitman behind 10-9, and New Diana forged ahead by 24-20 after three quarters. Pence and fellow senior Kaysi Parker helped close the door on the Lady Eagles offense, holding them to just four points.

Pence ended the night with 19 points, hitting 7-11 shots from the field, making one triple and adding four free throws. Pence also led the team with 10 rebounds. Parker had 12 points and six rebounds. Allie Berry scored four points and has seven rebounds, and Ashley Davis added four points and three assists. Sophia Reynolds and Larkin Spears each had one point.

The Lady Bulldogs handled the ball well during the contest, committing only 11 turnovers.

"I thought the first three quarters were some of the worst we have played all season, but we did a really good job in the fourth quarter of staying after it and increased our effort and energy,” Coach Blake Hamrick said. Maddy (Pence) gave us incredible energy and helped jump start our 4th quarter."

After opening district at home against Mineola Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs travel to Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill Friday.
