The Hooks Lady Hornets scored in six of seven innings in a 14-4 win over Quitman in bi-district Saturday morning in a cold, wet contest.

The Lady Bulldogs held their own through the first three innings before Hooks opened a lead and Quitman could not respond.

In the top of the first inning Hooks opened a 2-0 lead a walk, single and stand-up triple. Quitman came back strong in the bottom of the first inning. Addie Marcee started the Lady Bulldogs with an infield single. Marcee led the Lady Bulldogs going 4-4 at the plate. After a Kylie Harris walk, Ashley Davis popped up to the first baseman, but she was followed by a double courtesy of Lady Bulldog pitcher Kennedi Elmore and Quitman had pulled into a 2-2 tie.

Elmore was great early on the mound striking out eight in just the first three innings. She ended the evening with 10 strike-outs.

Hooks and Quitman each scored a run in the second inning. Marcee had an RBI double.

Hooks put up three more runs in the third inning to take a 6-3 lead. Quitman came back for a run in the bottom of the third on a triple by Davis who scored on a passed ball making it 6-4 going into the fourth inning.

The Lady Bulldogs did not threaten to score the rest of the game. Hooks added two runs in the top of the fourth to go up 8-4 followed by a four run sixth inning and two more runs in the top of the seventh frame.

It was Quitman’s second year in a row to make the playoffs under Coach Allison Head after going a decade out of the playoffs. Head will welcome back all of her starters next year. The Lady Bulldogs will lose just one senior, Skylar Flores.
