Lady Bulldogs go 1-1 in district games
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs split a pair of district softball games over the spring break.
Quitman defeated Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill in a close one, 6-5. Kennedi Elmore was dominating on the mound and at the plate. She struck out 14 Lady Devil batters and blasted a home run and had two RBI.
Also hitting for RBI in the game were sophomores Larkin Spears, Allie Berry and Peyton Kruckner, who each batted in a run.
The Lady Bulldogs were holding their own against district favorite Mt. Vernon when things fell apart. A 2-2 tie turned into a huge inning for the Lady Tigers on their way to a 13-2 final over Quitman.
Going into Tuesday’s game against Winona, Quitman stands at 1-2 in district action. The Lady Bulldogs will have a big week soon facing off against a tough Winnsboro team March 25 and on the road at Mineola March 28.
