Lady Bulldogs overcome slow start to sweep Ore City
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs whipped Ore City last Tuesday night 25-18, 25-13, 25-21 in a match played at Delbert Ballard Memorial Gym.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start falling behind 2-8 early in the contest. Once the Lady Bulldogs settled down they took down the feisty Lady Rebels.
Coach Ashlee Lingo got great net play from junior Ava Burroughs, and fellow junior Carley Spears did a great job setting. Spears further devastated and frustrated Ore City with seven southpaw aces. Burroughs added five aces. Senior Lindsey Hornaday also kept Ore City at bay with a solid effort and great hustle.
Stats for the game were Burroughs seven assists, one dig, 12 kills, one block, five aces; Spears 13 assists, five digs, one kill, seven aces; and Hornaday 5 digs, 4 kills, 1 ace.
The Quitman JV won its match 2-1 by the scores of 24-26, 25-23, 25-13.
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Van on Friday. District play begins Sept. 22 when Quitman travels to Harmony.
