Lady Jackets back to state
The Mineola Lady Jacket golf team has qualified for the state tournament for the third straight year after placing third in the regional tournament last week. The state tournament will be held May 15-16 at the Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin. Team members include, from left, Sarah Smith, Addyson Blackwell, Savannah Lopez, Valerie Moreland and Bransyn Anderson. The Lady Jackets shot 647 for the 27-hole weather-shortened regional event, with Gunter winning at 547 and Tatum second at 636. Lopez placed sixth in the individual standings with a 140 total, including 43 on the second day’s nine holes.
