Lady Jackets fall to Wills Point, beat Canton
Mineola battled Wills Point through three sets Tuesday, Sept. 1, but the Lady Jackets were unable to break through in a 3-0 non-district loss.
Wills Point took the opening set 25-20 and followed with a 25-19 win in the second. Mineola made its strongest push in the third, but the Tigers held on for a 25-23 win to close out the match.
The Lady Jackets averaged 10.3 kills per set and finished with a .048 hitting percentage. Mineola also recorded three blocks.
The loss dropped Mineola to 9-10 on the season, while Wills Point improved to 7-11 and extended its winning streak to four matches.
Mineola bounced back Friday, Sept. 4, with a home win over Canton.
Canyon Redding led the Lady Jackets with 16 kills, nine digs and four aces. Milo Reed added nine kills, while Kaitlyn McMahon recorded 16 digs and three aces.
Callie Black finished with 23 assists, five kills and an ace.
Mineola opened district play Tuesday, Sept. 8, on the road against Winona.
