Landmark commission sets marker dedications

The City of Mineola and the Landmark Commission will dedicate two state historical markers this month. 

The city will dedicate the Big Sandy Creek Bridge at the Mineola Nature Preserve at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19. It is now named the Dr. John M. Thomas bridge, after a beloved local physician.

The city will also dedicate a marker for the East Texas Serenaders at 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21. The musical group recorded in the 1920s and 1930s.
