Jayne Lankford will be the new mayor of Mineola, Randy Dunn was reelected as Quitman mayor, and school board incumbents retained their seats in the May 1 city and school elections.

Lankford won the mayor’s spot by a 150-125 count over fellow council member Sue Jones.

Jones will have a year remaining on her term, while Lankford’s seat becomes vacant with a year left on her term.
