Letters to the editor
To the editor:
On April 6 former Quitman resident and dear friend Becky Hibbard passed from this life to the next. For many years she and her husband, Bob Hibbard, who founded the Quitman Community Theatre, delighted residents of Wood County by producing, directing (and occasionally acting in) countless plays, musicals and dinner theater events on the stages of the Carroll Greene Civic Center in Quitman, the Lake Country Playhouse in Mineola and the Winnsboro Center of the Arts.
An avid gardener, Becky nurtured friendships as carefully as she tended her butterfly gardens. She had numerous circles of friends whose varied interests always made for lively conversation at Hibbard gatherings. Her optimism carried her through life with grace and style, and she will be greatly missed.
