Dear editor:
Recently, I read about the traffic plan for the new elementary school in Mineola.
I think this should be reviewed.
My concern is using Shady Lane to access the school facilities. Considering the traffic and the number of accidents at the Pacific/Loop/Walmart parking lot intersection, I would think that adding additional traffic, twice a day, would produce additional hazards, particularly by drivers turning left from Shady Lane onto Pacific.
One idea would be to improve the alley behind the public works building and let people access the school from Newsom. Another would be a second access from the loop. I’m sure there are other options available.
