Letters to the editor
Dear editor:
The 6-22-23 issue of the WCM referencing the 6-13-23 Commissioner’s Court conflated the Paper Ballot advocates and the Constitutional Resolution group. These are two separate organizations.
Additionally, I was taken aback by the inconsistency of Doctors Waddleton-Johnson in criticizing the resolution in support of the US Constitution as “returning to the Jim Crow era.” Jim Crow laws were overturned on the basis that they were “unconstitutional.” A resolution supporting the Constitution should therefore be to their benefit. Further, the political party which authored the Jim Crow laws was the farm team and almost exclusive supplier of membership in the KKK. I agree with doctors Waddleton-Johnson in opposing these evil and embarrassing aspects of our history and call upon all in Wood County to embrace the resolution in support of the Constitution as a way to oppose any support for Jim Crow or the KKK.
