Linda Fern Blalock 1952 - 2026
Linda Fern Blalock (nee King) went to be with Jesus on Sept. 27, 2026 in Clarksville, Texas. She was 73.
Linda was born in Grand Saline, Texas on Oct. 21, 1952. She lived on a farm with her sisters and parents, where she enjoyed playing outside and in the soil, but always staying close to her father. She was known to friends and family as “Fernie” or “Fern,” and had a green thumb all of her life, planting flower gardens wherever she lived.
She married her husband Randel “Buddy” Blalock on Aug. 13, 1971 and remained together until his death in June of 2013. The couple first met at a factory in Mineola in 1971 and married just four weeks after.
Linda was a caregiver to children for many years and also worked as a nurse. She stayed homebound in her later years due to poor health, but kept busy tending to flowers and creating a wealth of paintings, sculptures and other artworks at her home in Alba. She loved to laugh, petunias, the color orange, fried chicken, her chihuahua Lucy, and most importantly – her family, who lovingly called her Granny.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren D. King and Martha Lucinda Doggett of Grand Saline, her sister Jane Irey of Fruitvale, and her husband Randel Keith Blalock of Alba. She is survived by her two daughters, Tessa (Chad) Trammell and Cindy (Rodney) Mize, her sisters Barbara King (Ronnie) Abrams and Marsha (Teddy) King, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Linda’s family would like to extend their gratitude toward the staff of Focused Care of Clarksville for their long-term care and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care in Linda’s final days.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Mineola on October 17 at 11 AM.
