Linda L. Morris 1942-2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of my mom, Linda L. Morris. She was born Jan. 13, 1942 in Quitman and passed away Aug. 10, 2024 due to complications from a stroke.

We wish to thank Mom’s caregivers with hospice and those where she lived for their excellent care.

Mom lived her later years in Terrell on 10 acres of land where she was happiest. She was a country girl and Daddy’s girl at heart and spent her time outside, gardening, wood crafting and caring for all her animals. Mom especially enjoyed time with family and our trips to Canton.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Morris, Terrell; sister, Marion Walker, Dallas; and parents, Aaron “Doc” Deuson and Frances Deuson, Quitman. Per her request her ashes will be buried with her father at Roselawn Cemetery in Mineola.

Survivors include daughter, Renita Moon and her husband Billy Moon; two nieces; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
