Lowell Bradley Sheffield 1946-2022

Lowell Bradley Sheffield, 76, passed away peacefully on Oct. 14, 2022. He was born in Peoria, Ill. on Feb. 22, 1946 to Bradley Sheffield and Eathel Stoops Sheffield.  

He grew up in Corpus Christi and graduated from Mary Carrol High School in 1964. Upon graduation, he attended Del Mar College, then was drafted into the military during the Vietnam War where he joined the Air Force. During his three years of service, he traveled to England and the Philippines surveying communications between Russia and other countries.

Upon completion, he diligently finished his degree on weekends while working full-time to eventually earn his MBA from the University of Utah with a focus on accounting and finance. Throughout his career he worked for top employers such as Exxon Mobile and the United States government including the Department of Energy and Homeland Security.

Lowell regularly attended Gardendale Church or Christ with his parents in Corpus Christi, then later met and fell in love with Diann Chapman. They met through Diann’s brother, Brian, and were married on Dec. 31, 1971.

A faithful servant of the Lord, he actively participated in World Bible School to help spread the gospel to foreign countries in areas that were underserved. He also taught various Bible classes throughout his life. He was passionate about the Word and enjoyed deep diving into scripture while seeking multiple viewpoints and studying up on Greek and Hebrew. Later in his life, he served as an elder in Mineola, assisting the congregation, fulfilling operations and providing loving guidance to those in need.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Diann, of 50 years; daughters, Karen Stillwagon and husband Ben of Irving and Kristen Ranshaw, husband Robert and only grandson, Caleb of Flower Mound.

A memorial service will be held on Nov. 5 at Mineola Church of Christ in Mineola.
