Man charged in Longview woman’s death

A Longview woman was killed and a Gilmer man was arrested following a single vehicle crash east of Quitman on Monday morning, Sept. 25.

According to the Dept. of Public Safety preliminary report, Leopoldo Guerrero, 24, was eastbound on Hwy. 154, 13.3 miles west of Gilmer, at 7:03 a.m. when the 2007 Chevrolet 1500 pickup he was driving veered off the roadway to the north and overturned.

A passenger, Diana M. Valenzuela, 34, of Longview was taken to UT Health Hospital in Quitman where she died at 9:05 a.m.

Guerrero was also taken to the Quitman hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

He was charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and intoxication assault with a vehicle with serious bodily injury and taken to the Wood County jail.

He was released on bonds totaling $150,000 the following day.

A second passenger, Diovanni S. Cisneros, 25, of Longview, was taken to Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler with incapacitating injuries.
