Man faces intoxication manslaughter charge
Quitman police have arrested a 24-year-old Quitman man on two charges stemming from a Nov. 26, 2022 traffic crash in which one man died.
Jacob Alan Tucker, 24, remained in the Wood County jail Tuesday on bonds totaling $80,000 for the death of Michael Jeffrey Pauline, 63, who died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Goldsmith St. near Horton St.
According to police, Tucker was southbound on Goldsmith at 2:14 p.m. when the pickup he was driving failed to negotiate a curve and smashed into a tree 44 feet away.
Tucker and another passenger, Michael Thomas Ferry, 36, were hospitalized with serious injuries.
None of the three were wearing seatbelts.
Quitman police obtained a warrant for Tucker for intoxication manslaughter, a second degree felony, and intoxication assault, a third degree felony, after they learned from medical reports that Tucker had a blood-alcohol content of 0.172%, more than double the legal limit of 0.08%.
Tucker, a Mineola High School graduate, was arrested at his residence near Quitman.
His bonds were set at $50,000 for the manslaughter charge and $30,000 for the assault charge.
