Margaret “Maggie” Lunday 1939-2022

Posted

Margaret “Maggie” Sunday was born in Whitney on May 21, 1939 where she lived with her grandparents for her first 11 years. She spent her adult years in Garland where she raised her family. Upon retirement she longed to return to small town life and moved to Mineola where she was happy beyond words. She moved for the last time to her heavenly home on Nov. 28, 2022.

She was very family oriented and they always looked forward to the holidays at her home where the food was plentiful and the laughter never let up. Quilting was her favorite hobby, and the wall hangings were changed five times each year to celebrate the event or season. She enjoyed attending plays, traveling and Bible study classes at the church.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Duane, of 65 years (and 363 days); daughter, Rene’ and her husband Gene Brennan of Tyler; sons, Duane Jr. of Marlboro, Md. and Kenneth David who preceded her in death in 2005; five grandchildren; and six great-grandsons. She had three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Mike, Pat and Shelia, and Tim and Donna Stephens, all from the DFW Metroplex.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Mineola. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Kindness Kottage, 316 E. Broad St., Mineola TX 75773.
