Master gardeners announce two-part series

Texas Master Gardeners Wood County presents a free garden educational series Sept. 17 and Oct. 22.

The first session will be Saturday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Agri-Life Extension Office, 618 S. Main St. in Quitman.

Topics will include Our Plant Choices, Sip Garden, Composting, Irrigation Project and Phenology/How to become a “Citizen Scientist.”

The second program will be Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m.–noon at the Mineola Nature Preserve, 1860 Co Rd 2724.

Topics include What We Can Do For Our Native Bees, Enhance Your Landscape With Texas Natives, Q&A and Wildscape Garden Walk About, weather permitting.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
